Regarding the operating system itself: With Windows 7, portable use is a separate matter anyway. Although the second SATA port is usually not as fast as the first, it is significantly faster than a USB 2.0 port. With notebooks, a hard disk adapter (bay) is recommended instead of the optical drive, from which the boot process can then take place. In a PC, they can be attached to the controller as normal or with an external housing to the USB port. Small hard drives don't cost the earth and can still be used sensibly for exactly these purposes. Useful operation is only possible with an HDD or SSD. When using "normal sticks" the system is far too slow. Unfortunately, Mac users cannot boot from the Windows created in this way - we are currently looking for a solution to this Kutsch: Forget the USB stick thing. and install Windows on the external data medium. Of course you can now also install system drivers and everything else you need here. You can now close WinToUSB and restart your computer: In the BIOS, select the USB hard drive as the boot medium and test your Windows installation. If the display jumps to 100 percent, the tool reports success. The percentage display helps to keep track of the progress. Depending on whether you are using an ISO file or the Windows DVD, the process can take a relatively long time. WinToUSB will start the installation immediately.

Install Portable Windows on an external data medium Then confirm the selection of the partitions with "Next". If you only have one partition on the system, you can't go wrong here, as there is only one way to click something at a time. Now select the boot and system partitions on the external data medium.
